About this skill

From kindergarten through fifth grade, measurement is one of the main threads running through the Common Core math progression. Students start with concrete, hands-on representations in the early grades, move to pictures and number lines in the middle years, and finally land on the standard algorithm and abstract reasoning by the end of elementary school. The worksheets here are sequenced to match that progression, so as you climb the grade levels you see the same skill expressed in steadily more sophisticated ways.

If your student is struggling at their grade level, drop down one grade in this strand and look for the foundational sub-skill that needs more practice. If they're flying through the page, jump up a grade and try the next step in the progression. The same skill, met at three different grades, is one of the most efficient ways to fill gaps without overhauling your whole curriculum.
